Tens is kickin' it old skool

The Tens' combination of urban style with nostalgic graphics give ladies that retro look without feeling dated. Unless, dated is what you're going for. They use pop-ish images and font...very Roy Lichtenstein 80's-esque.

The Tens is the female spinoff of the brand  The Hundreds. I have a few t-shirts from The Tens, and they have a really nice fit/cut to them. It's not skin hugging, but not baggy either, which is great for the curves. (Sexy? I know.) You can pick up this gear at Active stores around L.A.

what's the delay?

....in getting
The Delays CD Everything's the Rush. Yay for corny opening lines. Their songs make me want to dance a jig in an open sunny prairie field with other people dancing the same jig as me. With our arms interlocked. In other words, beautiful. Their sound is a little bit indie, electro, alternative, and orchestral - with light folksy melodies. I keep picturing someone walking down a cobblestone road into battle or something else epic and the other townspeople slowly emerge from their homes and join in and follow down the road. Sigh. It just feels good so please listen to it people.

phantoms are hot

I'm hoping I'm not the only musical geek out there, but if I am, I guess this post is for my own satisfaction. Phantom of the Opera is coming to LA in January. Who's excited? I am. This one is one of those staple musicals that everyone has heard about even though they might despise theatre, and music, and singing, and having to follow the story line through song (yes, I know someone who hates musical for that sole factor). It is a cult classic of musicals, if you will.

Bonus points - I just discovered a new feature on the BroadwayLA site. You can purchase discounted tickets if you're willing to sit on the sides of the theatre. Tickets can be as low as $31.75. Two more catches though, the tickets are only good for Tues-Thurs night performances and it's a type of season pass, meaning you have to buy at least 4 shows.

January 21 - February 21 @ Pantages Theater
Los Angeles, CA

So if you're wanting to check out the show or the deal here are the links:

fancy footwork indeed

For those of you who like it kinda funky and a bit electronic. Chromeo will be at the Key Club in LA on Jan. 22nd.

They've got that kinda vibe that you can't help but dance too. Soon enough we will all be doing the robot in unison.

They have the best "names" too. Dave 1 (as opposed to Dave 2 or 300) on guitar and lead vocals and P-Thugg (you know how them thugs like their electrofunk) on keyboards, synth, and talk box??

Thursday, January 22 @ The Key Club
Los Angeles, Ca
9:00 PM

Because children are damn creepy!

So last Wednesday, a couple of my girlfriend's spent the night for a good old fashioned slumber party! (Insert pillow fight day dream here) We ended up going to Blockbuster, bought us some 5 dolla' jug o' wine because that's how us mid twenties partaaay, and commenced the drunken dvd watching of "The Orphanage" by Juan Antonio Bayona, but presented by Guillermo del Toro. Del Toro is the same guy who did "Pan's Labyrinth." He seems like he sort of has that dark eerieness that Tim Burton has except, at least for me, Tim Burton has a way of making things creepy cute. Anyways, the movie got us screaming pretty good although, the wine did not help us any. Also the fact that we tend to feed off of each other's jumpiness probably didn't help the situation. I found it scary though if that's what ya'll are into. Then again, I'm not the best movie critic, but I just love watching movies and am always looking for new things to watch. Just trying to spread the love. Peace.
